Two-day thematic conference entitled «Lake Amvrakia: Our known unknown. Eternal source of life» by the Municipality of Amfilochia and the Network of Cities with Lakes

On 16th & 17^th of March 2017 in boardroom of Amfilochia City Hall the Two-day thematic conference was successfully held which was co-organized by the Municipality of Amfilochia and the Network of Cities with Lakes, entitled «Lake Amvrakia: Our known unknown. Eternal source of life».

On the first day of the conference, the Mayor of Amfilochia, Mr. Apostolos Koimisis welcomed the attendees. The President of the Network of Cities with Lakes Mayor od Dorida, Mr. George Kapentzonis presented the identity and goals of the Network. In addition very interesting suggestions were presented about the lake Amvrakia by educators and managers of the environment and education field.

The Mayor of Amfilochia awarded Dr. Theodoro Kousouri hydro-environmentalist, for his significant contribution to the research and promotion of natural lakes of Greece.

On the second day, the presentation of the young students of Amfilochia 1st Primary School about the myths of Amvrakia lake was really special and emotional. Then everyone applauded the presentation of the students of the 2nd Primary School about the lake Amvrakia which was framed by constructions from natural materials of the lake. The same students had prepared a very interesting and unique theatrical event that was unfolded at the lake. The presentations of the students of Amfilochia senior high school and high school were also  notable. Finally the students from Sassoferato of Central Italy honored the conference by their presence while they presented the project «The water element in our lives» that was prepared for the conference.

After the end of the conference the participants visited the Virgin Mary Amvrakiotissa and the Local Community of Stratos and they enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the breathtaking view of Amvrakia lake.
