Signature Of Memorandum Of Understanding With Mariupol Municipality In Ukraine
On Thursday, 5th October 2017, a meeting between representatives of Network of Cities with Lakes and Mariupol municipality took place in Lidoriki, Municipality of Dorida. The meeting, which was successfully held, aimed at mutual signing of MoU for cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism and water management.
Delegation of Mariupol municipality was welcomed by President of Network of Cities with Lakes and Mayor of Dorida Municipality, Mr Georgios Kapentzonis and Network’s General Secretary, Mr Dimitris Skordopoulos. Greek delegation was also consisted of deputy mayors and Greek Orthodox Church representatives.Â
Delegation of Mariupol municipality was consisted of Mr Stepan Makhsma, President of the City Council, Ms Xenia Souhova, Deputy Mayor and Ms Yulia Stamboulzhi, head of secretariat of the City Council. The delegation was also consisted of Father Oleksiy Ustymenko, Mr. Kisil Vitalii, President of BoD «Mariupol Development Foundation» and Ms Yulia Zarikova from State University of Mariupol. The meeting was organized under the contribution of Embassy of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic and especially with the support of Ms Natalia Kosenko, Charge d’affaires of Embassy, who also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, both delegations discussed about common challenges and focused on mutual collaboration in organization of cultural events, common participation in funding programs, hosting children from Mariupol city in Dorida municipality and exchange of good practices in tourism and water management sectors. The above mentioned cooperation was sealed by the signature of the MoU by both parties.Â
A visit in Mornos artificial lake and lunch in Efpalio area followed. Upon the end of the meeting, both parties wished for the beginning of a permanent and fruitful collaboration.
