The most important event in the history of Larnaca is the recent completion of four thousand years of continuous life within the current municipal boundaries of the city. Tombs in St. Baptist area, Kathari, Pampoula and Vyzatzia areas (Hala Sultan Tekke), excavated from time to time under the leadership of the archaeologists Vassos Karageorgis, Margarit Yonne and Paul Astrom were dated at the beginning of the 2nd millennium BC. Today, at the beginning of the 3rd millennium AD we can certainly conclude that the inhabitation of this city completes 4000 years.
